The Bellingham Bernard Series Basket Press Syrah 2022 enchants with its robust aromatics and delightful finesse. Notes of freshly ground black and white pepper blend seamlessly with indulgent dark chocolate. Intense aromas of blackberry and mulberry are accompanied by floral hints of violet and dried Fynbos. This wine impresses with its generous structure and elegant, mature tannins that culminate in a remarkably smooth finish.
The grapes for this exquisite Shiraz were handpicked and meticulously sorted berry by berry upon arrival at the winery. Following a gentle crushing, fermentation occurred spontaneously in open 500L French oak barrels, leading to a traditional basket press. The young wine was then transferred back into French barriques, where malolactic fermentation concluded, allowing for 12 months of maturation.
