This exquisite Anthonij Rupert Blend Red is a captivating blend showcasing a medley of ripe dark and red berries, complemented by hints of blueberry, spice, and chocolate. The palate reveals these vibrant aromas in harmony with subtle fennel and anise notes, alongside the dominant essence of black cherries and plums that lend juiciness. An eloquent framework of oak and tannins guides this wine, delivering a well-structured and rich experience that maintains elegance. Its complexity is beautifully pronounced, and the finish is long, characterized by delicate cocoa nuances. Crafted for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring, this wine never ceases to impress.
Handpicked grapes are placed in small crates and transported to the winery in a cooling truck. At the winery, the whole berries are double-sorted and visually inspected before being gravity-fed into wooden fermenters. Each parcel undergoes cold maceration for several days, followed by a gradual warming, allowing natural fermentation to take place.
After fermentation, a 5-day maceration on the skins follows. The wines are aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 24 months, bottled unfiltered, and then cellared for an additional 6 years before release. The grapes primarily come from our Franschhoek vineyards, with a small portion from Groenekloof.
Only 16 barrels were produced for the 2017 vintage.
