The AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein White Blend 2022 embodies the finesse of South Africa's Swartland region, featuring a harmonious blend of eight grape varieties with Grenache Blanc and Chenin Blanc at the forefront. Its bouquet showcases intense aromas of ripe stone fruits, intriguing spices, beeswax, and blooming citrus blossoms. On the palate, it reveals a rich fullness where flavors of ripe fruit, oranges, and mineral notes coalesce with a balanced acidity. The finish is fruit-forward, opulent, and rich in flavor depth.
The carefully chilled grapes were whole-cluster pressed, and the juice was placed into older, previously used barrels. Some varieties were blended at this stage, while others fermented separately. After fermentation, the wines matured for 15 months in older 1200 L and 3000 L foudres. Upon maturation completion, all wines were blended and aged for an additional six to eight months in concrete tanks on the lees before bottling.
