The AA Badenhorst Family Wines Kalmoesfontein Red Blend embodies the essence of South Africa's Swartland region. Opening with enticing aromas of black pepper, licorice, and ripe black cherries, this red wine reveals a remarkable density and complexity on the palate. Floral notes of lavender and fruity undertones of black berries harmoniously converge. The finish is dry, with elegantly integrated tannins and a spicy, berry-driven finale.
The grapes for the Adi Badenhorst Family Red were meticulously sorted in the vineyard and transported in small harvest baskets to the winery, where they were promptly cooled overnight in refrigerated containers. The next morning, the whole berries were placed in fermentation tanks, where they were gently crushed. The fermentation process lasted six months on the skins, followed by pressing. After fermentation, the wine aged for 16 months in previously used 4000L oak barrels before blending and bottling.
