Vineyard Klein Constantia
Described as one of the most beautiful wineries in the world, Klein Constantia is located amidst old trees and lush green vegetation in the upper foreland of the Constantia Mountain.
The 146 hectare wine farm was once part of "Constantia", an enormous estate founded in 1685 by the Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel. This particular valley was chosen not only for its beauty, but also for its excellent granite soils on the slopes, cooled by sea breezes.
Highly appreciated by the European aristocracy of the 18th century, the famous dessert wine Vin de Constance was revived in 1986 on Klein Constantia.
Klein Constantia is the guardian of some of the oldest vineyards in South Africa, and indeed the world. Today Klein Constantia continues to produce South Africa's top wines and the world's finest dessert wines.
