Vineyard Weltevrede Estate
Under the direction of owner and cellar master Philip Jonker, the Weltevrede Estate in the Robertson Wine Valley, South Africa, is now in its fourth generation of producing award-winning and highly endowed red wines, white wines and Cap Classiques - primarily pressed from the grape varieties Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Only 90 minutes from Cape Town, on the famous Route 62, is the Robertson Wine Valley, nestled between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountain ranges. More than 50 award winning wineries are located on this picturesque route, including the Weltevrede Estate Winery, close to the town of Bonnievale. The Robertson Wine Valley is famous for its unique terroir, which produces world-renowned and distinctive wines.
To transfer this unique terroir into wine is Philip Jonker's highest goal: "My vision for the wines of Weltevrede is to preserve the pure and authentic expression of the terroir as a reflection and thus the incomparable character of origin as essence in the wine. We strive for the personality of the wine to be dictated by the soil of the vineyards".
