The Meerlust Chardonnay 2023 demonstrates a dazzling platinum appearance with vibrant green highlights. Its complex bouquet features enticing aromas of pear, apricot, and peach, intertwined with floral hints that evolve into roasted almond and citrus notes. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine delivers bright acidity layered with clean citrus and a mineral backbone, showcasing a generous Stellenbosch character. A rich stone fruit core leads to an invigorating and long-lasting finish.
Die Trauben wurden per Hand gelesen. 50% des Weins wurde in neuen französischen Allier-eiche Barriques vergoren, der Rest in gebrauchten 300 Liter Holzfässern. 50% des Weins wurde spontan mit Hefen auzs dem Keller vergoren, beim Rest kam kommerzielle Hefe zum Einsatz. Nach der Gärung wurde der Wein von den schweren, zu Boden gesunkenen, Hefen getrennt; malolaktische Gärung erfolgte und der Wein reifte im Holz.
