Kyburg Wine Estate - Renommiertes Weingut in Stellenbosch, Südafrika

Owners Fred and Rosmarie Ruest acquired Farm Kyburg in 1998, carried out a complete replanting of the vineyards with noble red grape varieties and since 2006 have been producing award-winning and first-class wines on excellent terroir. Kyburg is dedicated exclusively to the production of red wine, and thus classic varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz thrive on the estate.

Kyburg follows the classic French wine production method, with low harvest yields per hectare, controlled fermentation in open fermentation tanks and a large proportion of new French oak barrels. All of these criteria translate into Kyburg's wines with great structure, wonderful complexity, finesse and unbeatable ageing potential.

Many experts agree that Stellenbosch's Devon Valley is one of the best growing areas for exceptional red wines. The valley's rolling hills allow the early, cool sunrays to penetrate the valley and the ideal distance from the coast ensures cool sea breezes during the hot summer months, which is essential for the cultivation of high-quality grapes.

Kyburg is dedicated to absolute attention to detail, from pruning the vines to bottling. Everything is done by the finest and most careful manual work. The winery is named after the medieval "Schloss Kyburg", which is located near the village of Winterthur in Switzerland, where owners Fred and Rosmarie Ruest grew up and spent their childhood.

Winegrower Frans Snyman is responsible for the entire cultivation of Kyburg's vineyards and leads this task with pride and a lot of know-how. In close cooperation with winemaker Jacques Fourie, remarkable wines of first-class quality are produced here, which wonderfully reflect and express their origin and terroir.
