Product information "Eikendal Merlot 2017"
The Eikendal Merlot pampers with an incredibly complex bouquet! Slightly earthy aromas of moist forest soil, fragrant violets, dark plums and berries, as well as fine hints of black cherries and pepper spice enchant the nose. On the palate a full-bodied and excellently rounded drop with soft tannin and lush nuances of black summer cherries and plums. The finish is elegant, soft and lingers long after the last sip in an impressive way.

The grapes for the Eikendal Merlot were hand-picked and cooled to 1°C on arrival at the winery. Afterwards the individual berries were hand picked and destemmed with great care. The uncrushed whole berries were subjected to a fifteen-day cold swelling phase. A slow fermentation followed, with malolactic fermentation taking place in the cask. The wine matured for 16 months in custom-made 300 l Burgundy oak barrels. 20% of the barrels were made of new wood.
