Vineyard Driehoek Wines

In the high altitude Cederberg region, approximately 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town, the award-winning and highly endowed Driehoek Wines portfolio is being created under the direction of winemaker David Nieuwoudt. The portfolio includes the Driehoek Shiraz, the Driehoek Mieke Pinot Noir and the Driehoek Ludic Sauvignon Blanc.

Wine production is a relatively new and small part of the estate, which has been owned by the Du Toit family for more than five generations. The three grape varieties Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are carefully cultivated on just 5 hectares of land. Driehoek's vineyards are located in the highest growing areas of South Africa, and the wine farm itself is one of the oldest farms in the Cederberg region. Here, the cool mountain air and the rocky, stony soil create a unique terroir that produces top wines of unmistakable style and character.

But what would the perfect terroir be without a talented and passionate oenologist as a suitable counterpart? Winemaker David Nieuwoudt, owner and cellar master of the Cederberg Private Cellar, a winery adjacent to Driehoek, has been a member of the famous Cape Winemakers Guild since 2005 and enjoys an important name in the wine scene at home and abroad.

Since the release of the first Driehoek wine in 2009, the winery's wines have been showered with prizes and awards. One of the most notable awards is the gold medal at the Syrah du Monde 2017 in France for the Driehoek Syrah 2014 as best Syrah out of 372 participants from 26 different countries.
